my noise swash works fairly well in the self oscillation mode with no input, creating wonderful chirps and squeals. But when I plugin a guitar there is a humming noise underneath the crazy sounds that it normally makes without an input. Also, there is a subtle difference in the sound when I touch the guitar strings. I am using the 1.3.1 board with a plastic enclosure so there is probably an issue with the grounding, but I followed the wiring diagram and rechecked wires. also the effect is still on in bypass, just significantly lower volume. what do I do? Thanks in advance.

Well, plastic enclosures offer no grounding so that's probably your issue. Did you ground the jacks with wires (each jack needs its ground tab hardwired to the ground on the board)? When you use a metal box, the box itself acts as a conductor and so you don't need the ground wires. But plastic enclosures require that extra step (plus they pick up all kinds of noise and humm.... not recommended for high-gain effects like the swash)
