Hi, HAs anyone tried other types of diodes in NS for clipping. Leds or Germanium? I would like to try Ge, maybe a softer sound and different flovered bleeps and noises?

any thoguhts,

btw - just ordered the NS kit with box, parts and pcb...gave up on the roll my own...lazy. WIll add LFO, whih cis a OK build...

Different diodes will give different effects when post/pre-clip switches are engaged. i wouldn't say "softer" or "harsher" but just different types of self-oscillation noises. You can use LEDs, too, or use an LED going one way and a Si or Ge going the other way... its helpful to put sockets in, so you can swap diodes out quickly.

Try using a 3-way switch with germanium diodes on one side and silicon on the other. i set up one of my swashes that way, and did get some different sounds. I can't remember which diode I like better. Smile
