Hi, just built myself a mini-swash using the 4ms PCB v1.3.1. The problem i've got is a massive volume drop when the effect is engaged, and the LED doesn't come on. I've checked and i think the LED is backwards, i've not changed it round yet but this wouldn't cause a big volume drop would it? One parts substitution i had to make was replacing the spst switched pot with a dpdt one, would wiring this wrong cause the volume drop?

Will.

hmm... no a backwards LED wouldn't cause a volume drop. but it would cause a non-lighting LED!!

As for the DPDT switch, did you just wire one half of the switch? That should be OK...

Are you getting self-oscillations, harsh distortions, squeeling, chaos? Or does it just get quieter?

If no chaos, then check the voltage between pin 8 and 4 of each IC:

Sorry, lost track of this for a while after something came up. I'd like to see if i can get this thing working properly now i have some time. In reply to your response the pot with the switch is wired correctly i think, i just used half of it. It does the whole self-oscillating, noisy distortion, but at really low volume. When self-osc is disabled the sound is barely audible. the volume goes up when self-osc is turned on, but it's still very low, and i'm having to use an overdrive after the swash to make it useable. I'll look through the tweaking power pdf to see if the solution is there, but does anyone have any other solutions suggestions?

Cheers, Will.

been through the tweaking pdf with a scope. Everything works as it should but for a very low volume. Some pin voltages:

TL072
1. 4.43
2. 4.43
3. 4.41
4. 0
5. 4.41
6. 4.43
7. 4.4
8. 8.84

TL062
1. 4.4
2. 4.4
3. 4.36
4. 0
5. 0
6. 0
7. 8.31
8. 8.85

Not sure what else to do.

Can anyone help?

Hmm.. so all the controls respond normally (they all do something somewhat drastic at least SOME of the time)? If so then its just a matter of getting the signal from the board to your output jack.

Check one obvious thing for me, are the input and output jacks swapped?

Did ever you get the LED to light up?
