Hello there,
Just finished building the pedal from the kit. Instantly, I noticed regardless of the settings that there is an inherent volume difference. And when the blend is turned fully clockwise, it gets even quieter. I know that there is a modification for this, but with so many people making comments about this, you'd think that they would have supplied an on-board trim pot to set the volume by this point in time.
Also, wanted to point out that the use of Linear potentiometers was a big mistake. All of the controlling range is limited to the top 3/4th of a turn on the pot. That makes it VERY difficult to obtain similar settings on different occasions. Not very pleased about this. I'm thinking of replacing all of them with audio taper pots now... Or at least the ones that matter most (speed, height).
The sound quality is very good though. It is as clean as a whistle. No added noise that I can tell of. The design of the PCB is also quite good, with limited use of wiring in general, it was a pleasure to build.

thanks for the comments and feedback!
I must agree with you that audio taper pots are nicer, as the range is more friendly... but unfortunately the pc-mount pots only come in linear taper, so we had to decide between ease-of-wiring and linear taper. If you do get audio taper pots, you'll have to wire them "backwards", at least for Speed, otherwise it'll make the issue worse. I would stick with linear for Height.
As for the volume drop, I'm not sure why some people have been experiencing volume drops and others haven't. We use the same PCBs and pull components from the same parts drawers when we build ours, and the volume is always 100% (no noticeable difference between bypassed and engaged). Blend shouldn't drop the level either. Doing the volume boost mod seems like it's treating the symptoms not the cause, but if it works then it works. It is a useful mod no matter what, and I think we'll take your advice and include a gain trim-pot in the next version of the PCBs.

Cool, I think the addition of the volume trim pot would be great, since even though it is %100 matched in volume, the perceived volume always seems lower with phasers due to the nature of the beast. I'm sure it would be appreciated. As for the Linear PCB Mount pots, I hear ya on that one. Maybe you could make a choice when ordering the kit? Just a suggestion.
I tried bridging a 10K resistor across the speed pot from lug 1 to lug 3, but it didn't seem to do anything. I tried a few different values (10K, 22K, 100K, 1 Meg) and no change. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Otherwise, sounds amazing! Very satisfied with the sounds I'm getting.. I can't wait to write something with it tomorrow!

I finished my Fleur build this morning and I like it a lot. Very well laid out PCB and it sounds great!
